From Q to A.

The Global Research Process

Since 2002, Global Research has applied academically informed best-practice research methods, communicated using plain language. Our approach delivers customised, reliable and transparent results for every project.

Our team is highly qualified and experienced, holding postgraduate qualifications across a range of disciplines. Our knowledge has been honed from experience delivering high-quality, evidence-based insights for central and local government, public agencies, and private organisations across New Zealand and Australia.

We are proud to have achieved SOC 2 accreditation; compliance with this internationally recognised standard reflects our commitment to manage and protect sensitive data with effective and tested systems and procedures.

We tailor reporting to meet our client’s specific needs, and while our work is grounded in rigorous research practice, we prioritise clarity and accessibility to ensure findings provide genuine value to the people who use them.

If you have a research challenge that is unclear, complex, or time-pressured, that’s exactly the right time to get in touch. We specialise in turning difficult problems into clear, practical, and defensible insights.

Our Process

While every client’s needs are unique, we generally apply the same proven process to understand and deliver each project. Here’s what you can expect when you work with us (expand the sections below to learn more:

  • Getting in touch is the first simple step to start a conversation about your research needs. You don’t need a fully developed brief. Just tell us what you’re trying to understand or achieve, and we’ll work with you to clarify your needs and design the right approach.

    Reach us:

    ·      Email: info@globalresearch.nz

    ·      Call: +64 3 355 4562 or +64 27 2433 083

    ·      Online Form: Click here.

  • We will arrange an online or in-person meeting to explore your objectives and agree on the preferred project direction.

During this discussion, we will clarify:

    ·      Your desired outcomes and decision-making needs

    ·      Key audiences and stakeholders

    ·      The data and evidence required to inform the project

    ·      Reporting format and communication expectations

    ·      Milestones, timing, and critical deadlines

    ·      Specific considerations (e.g., cultural requirements, data security, hard-to-reach populations, accessibility needs, budget parameters…)

This conversation ensures we fully understand your objectives, context, and constraints, and provides the foundation for a tailored, fit-for-purpose proposal.

  • We then prepare a clear, tailored proposal that sets out:

    •            Project context, needs, and objectives

    •            Recommended research methodology

    •            Data collection, management, storage, security, and processing protocols

    •            Analytical framework and approach

    •            Reporting structure, outputs, and presentation options

    •            Key milestones and delivery timeline

    •            Project fees

The proposal becomes the project’s delivery framework. During delivery, we refer to this document to ensure the project stays on track and delivers on expectations. If circumstances require adjustment, we discuss and agree any changes with you.

Once approved, we appoint a dedicated Project Lead who serves as your primary contact and is responsible for overseeing project quality and communication, and coordinate delivery from start to finish.

Global Research invests significant time at the outset to design projects carefully and deliberately. We find, well-considered planning results in more efficient delivery, better outcomes, and fewer surprises along the way.

Plans are nothing; planning is everything.
— Dwight D. Eisenhower
  • Building on the approved proposal, we develop a detailed delivery plan that sets out exactly how each part of the project will be carried out.

While every project is different, delivery typically includes:

    Project Design

Guided by the agreed scope, we finalise the research design, including:

    —   Clear research stages and sequencing

    —   Development of survey instruments

    —   Preparation of interview and discussion guides

    —   Data transfer, management, and security arrangements

    —   Statistical and qualitative analysis methods

    —   Cultural, demographic, and accessibility requirements

    Delivery also includes:

    —   Stakeholder coordination and approvals

    —   Quality assurance and peer review

    —   Risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation

    —   Ongoing project communication and reporting

    Data Collection

We implement the agreed data collection approach, ensuring participation is managed accurately, respectfully and securely.

Depending on the project, this may include quantitative methods (such as online or mixed-mode surveys) and/or qualitative approaches (including interviews, workshops, or submission analysis).

We use best-in-class software, delivered by our highly qualified and experienced team.

    Throughout this stage we:

    —   Monitor participation and response rates

    —   Manage stakeholder communications

    —   Maintain secure data handling and storage

    —   Ensure privacy and ethical requirements are met

    —   Address any emerging risks or access barriers

We ensure project descriptions are provided an consent obtained from each participant. All data is securely stored and managed in line with our established SOC2 data security and privacy protocols.

    Data Processing

Once collected, all data is systematically processed to ensure it is accurate, complete, and ready for analysis.

    This includes:

    —   Verification and validation checks

    —   Cleaning and formatting datasets

    —   Removal of duplicates or invalid responses

    —   Secure logging and version control

    —   Preparation of structured datasets for analysis

For consultation and submission projects, this stage also includes preparing coding frameworks and structuring materials to ensure transparency and auditability.

All processing is conducted within secure environments consistent with our SOC2-accredited systems.

    Analysis

We undertake rigorous statistical and qualitative analysis, tailored to the project objectives.

Depending on the scope, this may include:

    —   Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis

    —   Cross-tabulation and subgroup analysis

    —   Weighting to align with population characteristics (where appropriate)

    —   Systematic coding of open-ended comments

    —   Development of thematic frameworks

    —   Identification of trends, drivers, and areas of significance

    —   Creation of charts, tables, and visual summaries

For public consultation projects, we develop a structured coding schedule to guide analysis and ensure findings are defensible, transparent, and replicable.

All analysis outputs are internally reviewed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and logic.

  • We present findings in clear, structured formats aligned with your audiences’ and decision-making needs.

    Reporting options may include:

    — Draft and interim reporting (if required)

    — Final written reports (technical and/or public-facing)

    — Executive summaries

    — Visual dashboards or infographics

    — Presentation of findings to boards, committees, or stakeholder groups

Our reports are designed to be accurate, accessible, and decision-focused, supporting confident action and transparent communication with stakeholders and communities.

We also step you through the findings, answer questions, and ensure you are confident applying the insights to policy development, operational decisions, or public communications.

To close out the project we confirm you are 100% satisfied with the deliverables, agree data retention/destruction, and capture lessons learned.

Global Research led a series of in person workshops with rangatahi throughout Christchurch to understand what a quality physical activity experience was to them to. They ensured that the workshops were tailored to the participants and each session was engaging and interactive. The findings from the workshops have informed how Sport Canterbury works with (and supports organisations that work with) rangatahi. We have shared the insights across the sector with the aim of improving the quality of physical experiences for rangatahi.
